College Football Playoff has already provided some unexpected twists and turns, most notably with No. 10 seed Miami pulling an upset of No. 2 seed Ohio State in the quarterfinals. The Hurricanes' stunning dominance of the reigning national champions messed up a lot of brackets.
We're still learning a lot about the modern era of college football. The coaches in the Playoff are another intriguing footnote.
The College Football Playoff is on to the semifinals, with a pair of matchups this week: No. 1 Indiana against No. 5 Oregon in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta and No. 6 Ole Miss against No. 10 Miami in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. The winners of those games advance to the national championship.
The Peach Bowl is an incredibly charitable bowl game and exists in a special space relative to the other bowls that all know and love. As it is Atlanta-based it shares a city with the College Football Hall of Fame and has created a bit of a universe for itself relative to college football overall.
