Warnings for ice extended to Wednesday across most of England, Wales and southern Scotland as UK experiences coldest night of the year
Snow and Ice weather warnings from the Met Office are in place for much of the UK today, January 5, and tomorrow. In the South West, a yellow warning is in place, covering Cornwall, Truro, Plymouth and surrounding areas, until tomorrow at 11am. For other areas in the South West, such as Bath and Exeter, a warning is in place until midday today.

Arctic weather has brought snow, sleet and hail, causing flight cancellations, rail disruptions and the closure of hundreds of schools, with further hazards expected later in the week.
Energy firm British Gas says households should prepare for power cuts by freezing milk as well as fresh meat. Unbeknownst to many, milk can actually be frozen and stored for months before being defrosted and used. Just be sure to fully defrost it and shake it well to ensure it hasn’t separated.
