Back in April, this performance of Chopin’s Scherzo No. 1 Op. 20 by 16-year-old Jacky Xiaoyu Zhang (@xiaoyujacky) at the Preliminary round of the Chopin Competition impressed me: from the fearless verve in the Presto con fuoco to the subtle tone produced in the B section with the sweet Polish Christmas carol.
