A wild sika deer, a nationally protected animal, was dramatically rescued in Gansu's Qilian Mountain National Nature Reserve after falling into a deep irrigation canal. The mature male, weighing over 400 pounds, could not escape on its own. Local officials coordinated with volunteers to manage the emergency.
